Has Labour really tackled anti-Semitism?

- scotletters@dailymail.co.uk DEREK GLICK, ESSEX.

MY HEART goes out to Natasha Pearlman, a young mother who has suffered from anti-Semitism (Mail). Racism and prejudice is blighting a political party that used to support all the downtrodden and oppressed. It is worrying that Jeremy Corbyn has chosen to support the Palestinians over the British Jewish community. Calling Hamas and Hezbollah friends, but not making overtures to Israel, is not going to broker peace between Palestinians and Jews. He needs to help bring healing and peace to both. ViCKi mcKenna, Glasgow. THE issue of anti-Semitism in the Labour Party goes way beyond signing up to an agreed definition or form of wording or legitimate criticism of Israel’s Palestinian policy. Words are cheap and the absence of leadership speaks volumes about an ingrained culture. Labour can expel members, but it can’t change the fact that people will continue to share their toxic prejudices on social media. The problem is down to the leadership, and Corbyn bears the responsibility for the current situation.

RHOD TIBBLES, norwich. WHAT a mess Jeremy Corbyn has made of his promise of a kinder, more caring form of politics. As a British person who happened to be born a Jew, I do not normally think about religion, but try to live by the Ten Commandments shared by Judaism, Christianity and Islam. But now I am aware that I am being labelled. Is this how it started in Germany — rabble rousing against a minority to gain popularity? It is a danger sign worrying many Jews. I am unhappy with many actions taken by various governments, including those of Israel. Most people just want to be at peace with their neighbours.
