A MAN was fighting for his life yesterday after being bitten in the groin by a bulldog.

The 22-year-old was last night said to be in a serious condition after the horror attack on Sunday.

It is believed the unnamed man had been sitting in a flat in Haddington, East Lothian, when the English Bulldog attacked.

The man suffered serious injuries to his groin area and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance where it is believed he was placed in an induced coma.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: ‘Police in East Lothian are investigating after a man suffered serious injuries, believed to have been caused by a dog, in Haddington on Sunday.

‘Emergency services were called to a property in the High Street area around 2.30pm.

‘A 22-year-old man was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by the Scottish Ambulance Service and later transferred to the Western General Hospital where he remained receiving treatment.

‘Inquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing.’

It is thought the dog was being held in kennels while police investigate the incident.

One local businessman said: ‘It’s just awful, imagine a thing like that happening.’

A shopkeeper on the street said: ‘There was a lot of commotion. It’s such a horrendous thing to happen.’
