The Donald’s brush with greatness

- Daily Mail Reporter

HIS presidency might be as divisive as a piece of modern art – but Donald Trump is clearly comfortable alongside the old masters in this painting.

The artwork, which hangs outside the Oval Office, shows Mr Trump enjoying the company of some of the most notable Republican presidents.

Seated between Dwight Eisenhower and Richard Nixon, Mr Trump is beaming over at Abraham Lincoln.

While most of the presidents are supping whisky or wine, the current American leader – who is teetotal – looks to be sticking to a glass of cola.

The painting was spotted during a TV interview. It is the work of Andy Thomas, who daubed a similar piece with Democrat presidents for Barack Obama.

Mr Thomas said: ‘Is he going to end up going in history as a great Republican or an abnormality? I just put him at the table, more or less the centre of attention.’ The art was quickly likened online to kitschy painting Dogs Playing Poker.
