ANT’S QUICKIE DIVORCE

Marriage to Lisa set to end today

- By Mary O’Connor

ANT McPartlin is set to be granted a ‘quickie’ divorce by a judge today to end his 11-year marriage.

The star of I’m A Celebrity and his estranged partner Lisa Armstrong, 41, were not expected to attend the hearing which was set to take less than two minutes.

They will be granted a decree nisi with neither side contesting the divorce at the Central Family Court in London.

McPartlin, 42, who earns around £6.7million per year, announced the split from his wife, 41, in January.

He is now in a relationship with his former personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett. Miss Armstrong, a make-up artist, met McPartlin at a roadshow in Newcastle in the mid-1990s.

He has often spoken of their struggle to have children while Miss Armstrong has previously alleged the

marriage broke down because of his addiction to prescription drugs.

She was said to have felt devastated by McPartlin’s new relationship and ‘betrayed’ by Miss Corbett, 42, who only split from her own husband a year ago.

Miss Corbett was understood to have been helping McPartlin since he was arrested and then fined £86,000 in April for drink-driving. He was also banned from the road for 20 months after a crash which left two families fearing for their lives.

McPartlin later pulled out of co-hosting I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and put Saturday Night Takeaway, which he also hosted with Declan Donnelly, on hold while he took a break from his TV roles.

Announcing his move, he said: ‘My recovery is going very well and for that to continue having spoken to Dec and ITV, I have made the decision to take the rest of the year off.’

McPartlin first sought help for substance abuse in June 2017 after he became addicted to prescription drugs following a knee operation.

Representives for both sides were unavailable for comment last night.
