author Helen Fielding has defended her lascivious creation daniel Cleaver — played by Hugh grant on screen — in the wake of the MeToo outcry. ‘It’s about it being consensual because frankly Bridget was harassing daniel Cleaver by sending him flirtatious messages and wandering past him in a very short skirt,’ says Fielding. ‘That’s where it gets hard. People flirt and get bored at work. It’s irresistible sometimes.’
