NEWSNIGHT’S Kirsty Wark presumably didn’t wear this outfit when she was auditioning to host Question Time.

She posted this picture of herself in a beret resembling the young Marxist depicted by Robert Lindsay in Seventies sitcom Citizen Smith.

‘There is an outside chance I’ll be taken for Citizen Smith,’ she joked. Wark, 63, once got into trouble for asking then First Minister, Labourite Jack McConnell, to spend New Year at her Majorcan villa, which prompted questions about her impartiality.
