ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL Blue Peter: Big 60th Birthday, 5pm, CBBC

THE longest-running children’s television show in the world marks 60 incredible years with a one-hour live extravaganza, featuring presenters past and present. Sophie’s mum, former BP presenter Janet Ellis (pictured), is the reader on CBeebies Bedtime Stories at 6.50pm.

FOOTBALL Republic of Ireland v Wales, 7pm, Sky Football & Main Event

NEW U.S. SITCOM The Mick, 9pm, Paramount

ATLANTA MEDICS The Resident, 9pm, Universal

EVEN in an average episode, the stakes are high in this U.S. medical drama — so imagine what it’s like when a storm shuts down power at the hospital, and the staff all have to work without technology. In a way, this puts maverick Dr Hawkins (The Good Wife’s Matt Czuchry) in his element.

FRAUGHT FAMILY There She Goes, 10pm, BBC4

THERE’S a real tension at the heart of this jarringly honest new comedy drama about the parents of a nine-year-old with learning disabilities (Miley Locke). The mum (Jessica Hynes) is handling it a lot better than the dad (David Tennant, pictured with Edan Hayhurst, Locke and Hynes), who just wants to drink wine and watch TV. It’s based on the experience of the show’s writer, Shaun Pye.

FUNNY FILM Room For Rent, 10.20pm, Sky Premiere
