Lion is facing Ascot switch

CRACKSMAN is in to 11-10 favourite for Saturday’s £1.3million Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot as doubts hang over the participation of his John Gosden-trained stablemate Roaring Lion. A quarter-of-an-inch of rain has fallen on the Berkshire track in 24 hours and turned the ground heavy. The conditions raise the possibility that Roaring Lion could be switched to the two-furlong-shorter Queen Elizabeth II Stakes earlier in the afternoon.
