Former Mail film critic dies aged 94

THE Daily Mail’s respected and influential former film critic Margaret Hinxman has died. She was 94.

Maggie, as she was known by her many friends, wrote for the Mail from 1974 until 1984 and was one of the ‘Three Wise Women of Film Criticism’, along with Dilys Powell of The Sunday Times and C A Lejeune of The Observer.

Her niece, film publicist Susan D’Arcy, said: ‘She always looked for the good in a movie.’ She died at a care home in East Preston, West Sussex, on Tuesday.
