Curb disincentive to work

THOUGH its implementation has been badly handled, the whole point of Universal credit is to reduce the bill for the taxpayer, and that may mean some claimants getting less.

It cannot be right that State benefits are a disincentive to work and that those who opt not to work – or even look for a job – can piggyback on the rest of us.
