STILL A STAR, BABS
NOW in the advanced stages of Alzheimer’s, Dame Barbara Windsor made a surprise appearance at the West End show 42nd Street to celebrate her friend Bonnie Langford’s performance.
The trouper got a standing ovation when she appeared in the Royal Box and later, when the crowds had gone, she even tapdanced on stage. These will be precious memories for her husband Scott Mitchell.
There will come a time, as with my own mother struggling with the terrible disease, when even one coherent word is precious.
In the words of a song from 42nd Street: ‘When it’s raining cats and dogs, think how swell it is for frogs. Every situation has a sunny side.’
