BUSY BOY

My master took me for a walk Then left home on his bike, And now the house is mine to do Exactly as I like.

I think I’ll try the kitchen first And raid the rubbish bin, I’ll find some bones and mouldy bread Plus something in a tin.

His study might be worth a check, He snacks in there a lot, The desk’s too high to see if there’s A biscuit left or not.

But look! A cable’s hanging down, Just asking for a yank, A heavy thing comes crashing down, Quite scares me, to be frank.

A lot of pleasure can be found Upon the bathroom wall, That roll of paper never stops And stretches down the hall.

But now it’s time to take a nap, His bedroom fits this plan, Those slippers need an overhaul, I’ll do the best I can.

That done, I jump up on the bed, The pillows aren’t my style, I have to rip the stuffing out, A job that takes a while.

Hark! Did I hear the front door bang? He must be home for tea, I’ll hurry down because sometimes He brings a treat for me.

Sheila Chisnall, Brixham, devon.
