IT’S never too late in life to discover the fun of squeezing into a selfie with your old mates.

Sir Paul McCartney, 76, former Beatles band mate Sir Ringo Starr, 78, and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, 71, lined up for the ultimate rock ’n’ roll photo after his show at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday night.

The rock star trio were joined by Dame Emma Thompson, 59, and Sir Paul’s fashion designer daughter Stella, 47, in the backstage selfie, which Miss McCartney then posted to her Instagram account.

‘Emma Thompson a couple of Beatles a Stone and moi... kick ass tonight dad x Stella,’ she captioned the photo.

Her followers said the picture rivalled Ellen DeGeneres’ 2014 Oscars selfie that included Hollywood stars Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Meryl Streep, Kevin Spacey, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie.

‘This beats the ellen group selfie by a milestone,’ (sic) wrote one. Another posted: ‘BEST FREAKING SELFIE OF 2018 !!!!

Sir Paul gave fans a surprise when he brought out Sir Ringo and Wood to join him on stage at the sold-out O2 gig for a performance of Beatles hit Get Back. ‘We’ve got a little surprise for you,’ Sir Paul told the crowd before Sir Ringo and Wood walked out on stage.

Other stars spotted in the crowd at the concert included Harry Styles, Roger Daltrey and Geri Horner.

Sir Paul has been touring Europe with his Freshen Up tour following the release of Egypt Station, which is his 17th solo studio album.
