No time limit on love

-

I HaVE every sympathy for Natalie drury, who was shunned by her family and friends after she started dating eight weeks after her husband died (Mail).

I lost my darling husband in 2009 after 31 years of marriage. I went on holiday soon afterwards and met my second husband, Hamish.

unlike Natalie’s experience, our family and friends were supportive. When we married in 2012, my daughter was matron of honour and my son-in-law gave me away.

When you remarry it does not mean that you forget your previous spouse. Everyone is entitled to happiness and opportunities have to be taken. unfortunately, Hamish died just 18 months after we married.

I wish Natalie and her husband all the best for the future and advise her to ignore the comments. DIANe LITTLeJoHN,

I Was widowed at an early age and met someone shortly afterwards. It raised eyebrows, but the price of that was worth paying for my own sanity.

The loneliest I have ever been was walking down the road from work to an empty, dark house the Christmas Eve shortly after I was bereaved.

I realised other people felt uncomfortable when I remarried, but they weren’t considering how I felt. Fifteen years later, I still often mention my late wife.

Please, when dealing with the bereaved, think of what they are going through rather than your own feelings of supposed propriety. PeTeR FISHeR, oakham, e. Mids.
