TV presenters’ tears for cancer death BBC star

-

BBC hosts were in tears yesterday after the death of weather presenter Dianne Oxberry, right, from ovarian cancer.

The forecaster on TV magazine North West Tonight, which broadcasts to NorthWest England, fell ill over Christmas and died on Thursday, leaving behind cameraman husband Ian Hindle and two children.

Weatherman Simon King choked up on air as he paid tribute on Radio 5 Live to Miss Oxberry, 51, who previously worked on BBC Radio 1 and 2. He said: ‘It’s devastating, it has been such a quick process.’

BBC staff were only told of her illness at the start of this week. A source told the Mail: ‘Members of the North West Tonight team were in tears at the news.’
