Trump: I did not hide notes on Putin talks

- Mail Foreign Service

DONALD Trump has denied he confiscated notes of conversations with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

The President dismissed as ‘ridiculous’ a report in the Washington Post that he took his interpreter’s notes after the 2017 discussion and ordered them to not discuss what was said.

It came as Mr Trump disputed an earlier story in The New York Times which said the FBI had launched a previously undisclosed investigation into whether or not he had worked for Russia against US interests.

When asked if he would release details of the two-hour conversation, Mr Trump said he would and added: ‘I had a conversation like every President does. We were talking about Israel and lots of other things... I’m not keeping anything under wraps. I mean, it’s so ridiculous.’

He added: ‘Anybody could have listened to that meeting, that meeting is up for grabs.’

According to the Post there is no detailed record of Mr Trump’s personal talks with Mr Putin at five locations over two years.

Mr Trump also told Fox News ‘no collusion’ has been found between his 2016 election campaign and Russia.

That investigation is part of an inquiry led by special counsel Robert Mueller that has indicted 33 people and convicted some of the President’s close associates.
