How you can make a difference

-

The official advice in the Government’s clean air strategy includes the recommendation to use unperfumed cleaning products to minimise indoor pollution.

Be wary of lime and pine fragrances, which can react with indoor air and form harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde.

Have fewer garden bonfires, especially if you live in an area of poor air quality.

Buy things online in one go, so they all arrive together and fewer van deliveries are needed.

Turn your thermostat down to reduce domestic fuel use, or insulate your house properly.

Walk or cycle along quieter routes to avoid traffic fumes.

When changing your car, pick a more green model, preferably electric.

÷Open your windows and let in fresh air to ventilate your home.
