Troops out after ‘cocaine party’

-

SIXTEEN soldiers have been kicked out of the Army after holding ‘cocaine parties’ at two barracks.

The parties were held by two units in the Royal Logistic Corps. Seven men and one woman from each tested positive for Class A drugs and were booted out.

Troops in 9 Regiment RLC first staged a mess party at Buckley Barracks near Chippenham, Wiltshire, last month.

Afterwards eight of them went back to their blocks and took Class A drugs, believed to be cocaine. Days later soldiers at 7 Regiment RLC held a similar party 130 miles away at Kendrew Barracks near Cottesmore, Rutland.

Eight were found to have taken the drugs. The two parties were not linked.

A source told The Sun: ‘Military police raided the barracks … and found evidence of drug use so the lot got tested.’

Sources claimed some may have deliberately taken the drugs to be discharged.

An MoD spokesman said: ‘The MoD has a zero-tolerance drugs policy and will not tolerate misuse of drugs by service personnel in any form. Any personnel caught taking drugs will be discharged.’
