Quiet hero who should be royally rewarded

-

uNSuNG hero of the week: 75-year-old barrister roy Warne, who pulled the Duke of Edinburgh from the wreckage of his car after a smash near the Sandringham estate. Mr Warne would have been forgiven for driving on. He was, after all, taking his wife home from the hospital after she’d been given the all-clear from breast cancer. Instead, he stopped, pulled the ‘very shaken and shocked’ Duke from the car, then went to check on the occupants of the other vehicle.

Did the Duke thank him for his efforts? Not quite. ‘He wasn’t being discourteous,’ Mr Warne said. ‘He had other things on his mind for sure.’

While that may be the case, I do hope a ‘thank you’ note from a certain HrH is in the post.
