Puzzle with over 290 parts... as dinosaur ‘rebuilt’ at museum

- By Arthur Vundla

IT’S a monster of a puzzle – experts are putting together the 292 pieces that make up Dippy the dinosaur after its arrival in Glasgow. After delighting more than 132,000 fans at the Ulster Museum in Belfast, Dippy sailed across the Irish Sea to Scotland. A specially equipped van transported the 85ft dinosaur cast from the Ulster Museum after it was packed into 16 crates. It will take a team from London’s Natural History Museum five days to assemble before it is unveiled at Kelvingrove Museum on Tuesday. When it is on display the huge skeleton is 75ft long and 14ft high. Glasgow Life chairman David McDonald said: ‘Dippy is on a mission to inspire families to explore our incredible natural history collections.’ The dinosaur will be in Glasgow until May 6 as part of its tour. There have been record-breaking visitor numbers in Dorset, Birmingham and Belfast.
