Why Martin’s Game for a laugh
PLUCKED from obscurity at the age of 17 for a role in Ken Loach hit Sweet Sixteen, he is now a succesful actor living the high life in Las Vegas.
But when Martin Compston feels homesick for his native Scotland, he has the perfect cure – DVDs of Still Game.
The Greenock-born Line of Duty star lives in the US with his wife Tianna Chanel Flynn, whom he wed in 2016.
However, the 34-year-old was delighted to land a role in the Scots sitcom’s final series, due to air this month on BBC Scotland’s new channel. He said: ‘Any time I feel a wee bit homesick in Las Vegas I stick Still Game on. It is an institution and one of the best Scottish TV shows of all time.
‘I was filming Line of Duty at the same time so I was able to pop over from Belfast and shoot my scenes. To see (Still Game stars Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill) do their thing was immense.’
