Our hopeless MPs don’t like it up ‘em
THE catchphrase of Dad’s Army’s Corporal Jones, ‘They don’t like it up ’em’, is a perfect description of the Westminster Remainer brigade’s response to Theresa May’s comments on Wednesday night.
What a pity the Prime Minister hadn’t done this before with a Parliament packing a large majority of duplicitous Remainer MPs telling the public they are behind the referendum result while doing their best to reverse Brexit.
The deal on offer is far from satisfactory but because these ‘honourable members’ voted to remove the only viable alternative of No Deal, the EU has stuck to its position like a limpet to a rock.
Michel Barnier and Donald Tusk have nothing more to do other than wait for Brexit to be dropped, or their deal to be accepted, giving them significant levers over the UK and, more importantly because of the backstop, the ability to attach totally unreasonable conditions to a future trade deal, including fishing.
The UK will be ‘taken to the cleaners’ and forced to pay £39billion for the privilege.
The Prime Minister is far from blameless in this debacle but Remainers, by removing No Deal, are responsible for the offered deal remaining unchanged.
This must rank as one of the worst UK Parliaments ever; packed full of self-centred MPs interested only in their own egotistical importance.
Voters won’t forget those who put their own preferences before honouring the result.
