Tributes for baby girl who died after fall from window

- By Arthur Vundla

TRIBUTES have been paid to a oneyear-old girl who died after falling from a top-floor window.

Neighbours laid flowers, a teddy bear and cards yesterday at the scene of the tragedy in Clydebank, Dunbartonshire.

Police were called to the tenement block at 2.10pm on Wednesday following reports the child had tumbled onto the pavement from a flat on the third storey.

The child, who has not been named, was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow but police confirmed yesterday that she had died. One resident who asked not to be named, said: ‘Even in your worst nightmare, you can’t imagine what the family are going through.’

Police have said the circumstances of the fall are not being treated as suspicious.

Detective Inspector Steve Martin, from the Family Protection Unit based at Clydebank, said: ‘The little girl’s family have been left devastated.’

A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
