Assange absurdity

-

IN a saga of almost unrivalled farce, Julian Assange has been holed up in ecuador’s London embassy for seven years.

the capricious South American state stuck two fingers up at the West by granting the WikiLeaks founder political asylum – allowing him to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he allegedly sexually attacked two women, and the US, for releasing secret files.

Police were stationed outside the building day and night to foil any attempt to smuggle him out – an absurdity costing taxpayers at least £13 million. But yesterday ecuador withdrew diplomatic protection, claiming the narcissist was using the bolthole to meddle in other countries’ affairs.

Arrested, Assange whined self-pityingly about breaches of privacy. that’s rich! He made a living from leaking classified information that endangered lives.

entirely predictably, Labour’s Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott hailed him a noble whistleblower trapped in US ‘cross-hairs’.

Never mind the huge public cost. What is most disturbing is the way a suspected rapist is blindly feted as a hero by the Leftwing chattering classes!
