We all had fun back in the day, says Emma

EMMA BUNTON has sought to dispel rumours that the Spice Girls reunion tour may not happen after the row over Mel B’s claim to have slept with Geri Horner.

Miss Bunton – Baby Spice – remained coy about the allegation of a lesbian affair, saying only that the girl group ‘had fun back in the day’.

But she insisted that the reunion would go ahead as planned, with rehearsals starting on Monday and saying: ‘It’s all good.’

Melanie Brown – Scary Spice – caused a rift in the group and put the anticipated tour in jeopardy when she told Piers Morgan’s Life Stories on ITV that she had slept with Ginger Spice during their 1990s heyday, and that they had ‘giggled’ about it afterwards.

Miss Horner issued a statement saying the claim was ‘simply not true’ and ‘very hurtful’.

Appearing on tomorrow’s Jonathan Ross Show on ITV, Miss Bunton, 43, said: ‘It’s all fine. We have all chatted about it.’

She added: ‘Listen, we had fun back in the day. I didn’t know anything else but you know, we are all good, we’re starting Monday, we can’t wait, we’ve all been chatting, it’s all good.’

She insisted that the group’s planned tour is ‘happening’ and all the Spice Girls apart from the absent Victoria Beckham will be at rehearsals next week.

Miss Bunton also claimed that she and her bandmates ‘love’ Mel B for speaking before she thinks.

‘She is so spontaneous,’ she said. ‘Even back in the day, it was so fun because she’d be [causing mischief]. She’s got so much energy, I just can’t keep up. I love it, I kind of bounce off it then I go home and have a sleep.’

She also joked of feeling ‘a bit left out’ when Mel B claimed she and Geri had had a romantic encounter. She said: ‘I must admit, I was like, “What about me?” ’

The Jonathan Ross Show is on ITV tomorrow at 9.25pm.
