THE boyfriend of a former private school pupil was being held by police last night after her body was found in a four-star Swiss hotel.

Anna Florence Reed, 22, was found suffocated and ‘covered in cuts’ on Tuesday morning after shouting was heard coming from her room.

Her muscular boyfriend, a 29-yearold German who calls himself Marc Dirtywhite and has the word ‘warrior’ tattooed over his left eye, is said to have told police that Miss Reed’s death was the result of a ‘sex game gone wrong’.

Swiss police said he is facing a charge of pre-intentional homicide – a lesser charge than murder.

Worried guests at the upmarket Hotel La Palma au Lac in Locarno, at the foot of the Alps, reportedly heard screaming and shouting coming from the couple’s hotel room early on Tuesday.

Then at around 6.30am, Dirtywhite appeared at the reception. A source said: ‘He was agitated and said his girlfriend had a problem with her health, that she was ill.

‘The receptionist could tell by his tone that it was serious so called an ambulance immediately. A few minutes later the ambulance was at the hotel. The medics went straight up to the room. She was on the floor of the bathroom. They tried to resuscitate her but there was no response. She was already dead.’

A post-mortem examination revealed the ‘bright and beautiful’ Miss Reed died of asphyxiation, and had small fractures and cuts on her body. It is thought Miss Reed had been dead for some hours before the alarm was raised. Her boyfriend was being held in prison in Farera, Switzerland, last night.

Miss Reed’s devastated father Clive, 62, and sister Millie, 24, arrived in Switzerland yesterday after flying from their homes in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

A family friend said: ‘This is horrendous. Clive is utterly devastated and no one can believe what has happened. We’re aware of the tragedy and it is terrible, just absolutely shocking.’

Miss Reed – a former pupil at £14,000-a-year Ashville College in Harrogate – moved to Berlin after finishing her A-levels. Her father is a trustee at Copgrove Hall Stud, in Occaney, North Yorkshire, and nephew of renowned horse owner and breeder Guy Reed.

A former neighbour said: ‘Anna used to babysit our kids and she was lovely, so lively and full of fun.

‘She was very horsey, as a child she would set up little jumps in the garden for their dog to jump over.’ It is the second tragedy to hit the wealthy family following the death of Miss Reed’s mother Mary five years ago.

Miss Reed had been living in Berlin until recently when she left to start a new chapter, friends said.

The couple – described as ‘very happy and loved up’ – were on holiday in Switzerland. They checked into the hotel at the weekend having recently returned from a trip around South-East Asia.

Yesterday, it emerged that Miss Reed and her boyfriend visited a clothing boutique just hours before she died.

The tailor who owns the business said: ‘She seemed very content and happy. They seemed so close that we assumed they were married.

‘He bought two dresses for her and they were being tailored to fit her petite frame so she hadn’t collected them yet. We’re so devastated to hear that she died just hours after posing for photos outside our boutique. Not only was she beautiful and natural, but she seemed so sweet.’

Miss Reed often posted pictures online of her travels around the world and shared details of her exploits in European cities including Rome, Amsterdam and Berlin.

A man who became friends with the couple last month when they were travelling in Vietnam said they ‘appeared perfect for each other’.

The friend, who did not want to be named, said: ‘I’m blown away. I met them in Vietnam when they were travelling round Asia together. I think they had come from Thailand.’

He added: ‘Anna was a very sweet girl. They seemed happy and in love and had their hands all over each other. They were just good people.’

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said consular staff were assisting the family.
