founder Michael Eavis says Queen guitarist Brian May has sought to appease him over his unofficial ban on the band performing at the festival. Somerset farmer Eavis told me last year that May was not welcome over his opposition to the badger cull to reduce the spread of bovine TB. But now, Eavis says he has received a surprise peace offering from the group’s emissary. ‘He said he was the agent for Queen and he understood that the best way to get to me was a handwritte­n postcard. I mean, lovely. It almost worked for me.’ Almost.
