- email: pboro@dailymail.co.uk

The man was driving very fast Through the centre of the town, When suddenly behind him, there were Blue lights bearing down.

He peered into his rear-view mirror; His panic began to rise. So he pressed his foot down further and Drove on with blazing eyes.

He was very soon touching 80, With the police car still behind. Unable to do the right thing, In his present state of mind.

Suddenly realising his reckless actions May injure himself or a stranger, He slowed his speed and pulled over To alleviate the danger.

The police car pulled up behind him And an officer got out to speak, He just sat there frozen to his seat,

Feeling vulnerable and weak.

The officer said: ‘Are you aware that you Reached 80 miles an hour? What have you got to say for yourself?’ He said with an icy glower.

He said: ‘Sorry officer, I have done wrong, But my excuse is honest and true, And when you hear what I have to say, You’ll understand why I flew.

‘You see,’ he said, ‘my wife ran away ‘With a copper by the name of Jack. ‘So when I saw you in my rear-view mirror, I feared he was bringing her back.’

Norman J. Myson, Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex.
