EYES FRONT!
Meghan’s dressing down from Harry at Trooping the Colour
SHE has transitioned pretty smoothly into royal life so far.
But the Duchess of Sussex was given a gentle reminder about adhering to tradition during last weekend’s Trooping the Colour ceremony.
Prince Harry appeared to tell his wife Meghan to ‘turn around’ while she was standing in front of him on the balcony of Buckingham Palace last Saturday.
Lip readers claim he made the remark moments before the national anthem was played, when the Royal Family traditionally face the crowd.
During the event, which marked the Queen’s official birthday, the duchess was standing in front of her husband and behind several younger members of the Royal Family.
At the start of the video several of the family could be seen chatting among themselves, while Prince Harry turned away from Meghan to speak to someone on his right. His aunt the Countess of Wessex, cousin Lady Louise Windsor and Princess Eugenie’s husband Jack Brooksbank were all standing nearby.
A short time later, as if trying to join the conversation, Meghan turns around to speak to her husband.
Moments after, she turns her head once again, at which point Harry appears to tell her: ‘Turn around.’
The duchess then quickly faces to the front and the national anthem begins shortly afterwards.
The clip has been shared widely on social media, with many speculating on what may have been said.
Some say the duchess looked ‘upset’ by his remark, while others suggested it was a row between the married couple.
THE Duke of Kent is facing a police investigation after he was involved in a road accident with a student.
The Queen’s 83-year-old cousin, who is patron of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, was driving a Jaguar when he allegedly pulled out in front of Olivia Fellows’s Mini.
It comes months after the Duke of Edinburgh, 98, crashed his Land Rover into a car carrying a mother and her nine-month-old son.
Miss Fellows, 21, said she was left ‘badly shaken’ after her ‘terrifying ordeal’ on Sunday, June 2.
The University of Sussex neuroscience student claims she was forced to slam on her brakes and then crashed into the central reservation on the A27 near Brighton. It is not thought that the two vehicles made contact with each other.
It is also not known if the duke, a former field marshal in the Army, was aware that there had been an accident at the time of the accident. Miss Fellows told MailOnline: ‘I was driving north at 60mph and suddenly this Jaguar pulled out in front of me.
‘He shot across the road. But it was so close that if I hadn’t emergency braked I would have gone straight into the middle of his car.
‘As I put on the brakes, my car span towards the central reservation and smashed into it. I clipped the kerb. The airbags went off and there was smoke coming from the engine. Two women who were behind his car came running over screaming, “Oh my God, oh my God, are you OK?”’
Miss Fellows said her right arm was ‘in agony’ from hitting the airbag and she was left ‘in shock’. She added: ‘The other car drove off because presumably they hadn’t seen what happened.’
The two women who witnessed the crash gave the police the Jaguar’s registration number, and Miss Fel lows said it was then she discovered the car was registered to Buckingham Palace.
Prince Philip came in for heavy criticism for initially not apologising after he collided with a Kia car in January as he pulled out on out of the Queen’s Sandringham estate onto the A419 in Norfolk. His vehicle overturned but he was unhurt, although he later had a check-up in hospital. But the 28-year-old of the Kia suffered cuts to her knee and her passenger, Emma Fairweather, 46, was left with a broken wrist. The driver’s nine-month-old baby was unhurt. The prince later surrendered his driving licence and the Crown Prosecution Service said he would face no further action.
Miss Fellows, from St Leonards, East Sussex, says her Mini worth £2,000 was written off in the incident. A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: ‘A royal household vehicle was involved indirectly in a collision on June 2 in Sussex. All the relevant details have been passed to the police.’
Sussex Police said: ‘A vehicle collided with the central reservation close to the junction with Lacys Hill, reportedly after avoiding colliding with another vehicle. No injuries were reported and inquiries are ongoing.’
