Friends and family said it would never last – and they were right.

A couple who married in Vegas ten days after meeting on a dating app have split up after less than eight weeks as man and wife.

sarah elliott, 34, a nanny, has disclosed that she parted ways with Paul edwards, 37, after a tumultuous two months that saw them living with not one but two of her exes – both also called Paul.

Miss elliott and Mr edwards, a trainee electrician, met on the matchmaking app Bumble on december 15 last year and instantly hit it off.

After exchanging messages online they spoke on the phone for the first time on december 22, and made plans to fly to Las Vegas for their first date – a wedding. despite their nearest and dearest’s misgivings, the couple insisted their fledgling relationship was based on a ‘deep connection’.

After their Christmas day wedding, Mr edwards moved from Chichester, West sussex, to Miss elliott’s home in Crowborough, east sussex, which she shared with two former lovers. Miss elliott said that initially the quartet formed ‘one big, happy, albeit unusual family’. However, as time went on, she said her new husband became ‘very jealous of one of my Pauls, who i’d had a long-term relationship with and who shared the mortgage’.

After just a week, she claimed Mr edwards started a row while the housemates were playing a board game.

she told The sun: ‘Paul got funny because i was apparently sitting two inches closer to my ex on the sofa. He accused me of still being in love with him.’ The atmosphere in their home then ‘turned sour’, she said. ‘i’d sometimes be with my ex in his room, comforting him, but leaving the door open to appease my husband.

‘Paul would storm in and accuse me of sleeping with Paul.’

in an attempt to patch up their marriage, the newlyweds went to a ‘fetish party’, which Miss elliott liked attending – although she did not sleep with other partygoers at these events. Miss edwards, who describes herself as having a high sex drive, said: ‘it was great. i love kinky parties and role-playing and although Paul was not au fait with that world, he was open to it.

‘i thought i’d met my match, in and out of the bedroom.’

However, Miss elliott said Mr edwards was ‘a fish out of water’ and ‘would get all jealous’ when other men said hello to her.

On another night out at a club in Brighton, she claimed Mr edwards erupted with fury ‘and said i’d cheated on him’ after she gave a gay man a ‘cheeky’ kiss on the lips. she said that as their relationship faltered she ‘felt conned, like he had sold me a version of himself that wasn’t real’.

she continued: ‘As i became less attracted to him, our sex life dwindled. He also got a “man cold” and was moaning all the time. it wasn’t sexy at all.’

she asked Mr edwards to move out in February, but decided to give the relationship another go, adding: ‘i knew people would say, “i told you so”, which was hard to swallow. We were married and i took those vows seriously.’

However, the couple soon had ‘another big row’ and tried counselling, before splitting up for good days before their two-month anniversary. Miss elliott said: ‘i no longer believe monogamy and marriage is the be-all and end-all. now i’m living the polyamorous lifestyle and loving it.’

Mr edwards declined to comment on her claims. d.wilkes@dailymail.co.uk
