I THOUGHT I’D BE TOLD OFF FOR SPENDING TOO MUCH
KIMBERLEY RENTON, 35, a writer, lives in london with husband matt, 33, who works for a leading property website. They married in the South of France in September 2014. As I’m not very organised, I only went dress shopping a few months before our wedding. I’d tried on a few before I found this beautiful £2,000 lace dress by French designer Laure de sagazan (above). I bought it, but something niggled that it didn’t have the ‘wow’ effect I’d hoped for.
When browsing social media afterwards, I kept seeing another gown called The Hollie by an Australian designer. It was more beachy and relaxed in style.
I agonised for a while, and then after a night out and a few drinks, I bought the dress (right) on my credit card. It was nearly £1,000 but I thought if I didn’t get it, I’d regret it.
I didn’t breathe a word to matt — I thought he’d tell me off for spending more money! On the day of the wedding, I changed into the second dress in time for the first dance, The Rolling stones’ miss You. matt was very surprised and the guests loved it. I’ve no regrets.
