Celts need a Euro run for fans, claims Johnston

- By JOHN McGARRY CELTS NOT OUT OF TROUBLE YET: SEE THE VERDICT

MIKEY JOHNSTON admits Celtic have a job on their hands to get disgruntled fans back onside. Last week’s Champions League exit to CFR Cluj preceded a sticky extra-time victory over Dunfermline in the Betfred Cup on Saturday. Neil Lennon’s side now face a testing period which sees them face AIK Stockholm in the Europa League play-off on Thursday before Hearts and then Rangers in Premiership matches. Acknowledging there is work to do, Johnston, the scorer of a spectacular opener against the Pars, said: ‘Europe is massive to the fans and we want to try and get a run there to get the fans back onside. ‘Everybody has to find it within themselves. We are playing in a massive game for a massive club. We all have to be up for it. ‘We are a winning club and not getting into the Champions League is big blow for the fans. ‘It would be great to get a good result to take to Sweden.’
