CRICKET England v Australia, 10am, Sky The Ashes & Sky Main Event

JONNY BAIRSTOW will be eager to perform well with the bat in front of his home crowd as the action moves to Headingley for this third of the Ashes Test series. But the man the crowd will be coming to watch is England’s new fast bowling sensation Jofra Archer, who badly rattled the Aussies in the drawn Test at Lord’s.

FAMILY FUN Megamind, 1.10pm, Film4

HEROES and villains need each other more than they think they do in this fun animated tale. Evil alien overlord Megamind (voiced by Will Ferrell) has been battling his nemesis, the superhero Metro Man (Brad Pitt), for years. But when he finally defeats him, the blue-skinned alien (pictured) has to find a new meaning to his life.

COURTROOM DRAMA Supreme Revenge, 9pm, PBS America

LAST YEAR, the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court sparked one of the most brutal political fights of the Trump administra­tion — and that’s really saying something. This punchy new documentar­y places it all in context.

CAR MAKEOVER SHOW Goblin Works Garage, 9pm, Quest

JIMMY is beside himself with excitement as this British car makeover show returns for a new series. He’s bought a Mini Clubman, and wants to gut the vehicle and rebuild it as a muscle car with twice the horsepower. ‘I’ve been waiting for this moment since I was 12,’ says an elated Jimmy.

RECIPE IDEAS Rachel Khoo: My Swedish Kitchen, 9pm, Food Network

THE Croydon-born chef lives in Sweden and, judging by the cabin she cooks in for this first of a new series, you can see why — the setting is stunning. On her menu are boar burritos and a lemon curd yoghurt cake. (Freeview 41, Sky 140, Virgin 291, Freesat 148)

SERIES FINALE The Good Place, 10pm, E4

IN THE finale to season two of one of the most inventive US comedies on TV, Michael presents a game-changing theory to the Judge (Maya Rudolph). This leads us to one of those twists that The Good Place has become so adept at delivering, but, even by this show’s standards, it’s a big one. You can find season three on Netflix.

BRITISH COMEDY Brassic, 10pm, Sky One

SKY’s new comedy bursts out of the gate like Trainspott­ing, and follows a group of skint northern pals played by a sparky cast that includes Michelle Keegan, Joseph Gilgun and Damien Molony (pictured). It settles into something warmer about friendship after that, like a sweary Last Of The Summer Wine with social edge.

AFRICAN ADVENTURE Walking The Nile, Discovery, 10pm

FIRST shown on Ch4 in 2015, this was ex-Para Levison Wood’s first TV series — and part one is eventful, to say the least. Walking from Rwanda to South Sudan, he is robbed; he is also blessed by a witch doctor, and sees one of his companions dying of heatstroke before his eyes. Also available on All 4.

FILM PREMIERE Arizona, Sky Premiere, 10.20pm

VIOLENT black comedy that grimly satirises the 2008 US mortgage crisis. Rosemarie DeWitt is the estate agent who has a run-in with a deranged homeowner (Danny McBride).
