Looking a bit ruff, it’s La La Land’s Emma as a punk Cruella de Vil

- By Eleanor Sharples TV and Radio Reporter

POUTING in leather and chains, two-toned hair and heavy makeup, Emma Stone brings a touch of punk to her Cruella de Vil. It’s quite the transformation for the 30-year-old star of La La Land, who has ditched the pretty dresses and primary colours for a rather edgier wardrobe in her latest role as the One Hundred And One Dalmatians villainess.

She stars in Cruella, Disney’s liveaction prequel to the 1961 classic – which will be set in 1970s London and tell the story of how the dognapper developed her hatred for the animals.

The photograph, in which Miss Stone poses with dalmatians in a rubble-filled building site, was revealed at Saturday’s D23 Expo, a major Disney fan event held in California.

Beyond the dalmatians, the convention also unveiled the leading dogs of the new Lady And The Tramp.

Rescue dog Monte padded along the red carpet as the male star of the Disney remake of the 1955 animation.

The two-year-old mongrel, who was taken in by a shelter in Arizona before being adopted by a family in California, gave fans a taste of what’s to come as he sat alongside Rosie, the cocker spaniel playing Lady.

The pair appeared to re-enact the memorable scene in which Lady and Tramp share a kiss by candlelight over a bowl of spaghetti.

Tramp will be voiced by actor Justin Theroux and Lady by Tessa Thompson. The film is due to air in the US towards the end of the year, while Cruella is due for release in May 2021.
