Cynical Cameron is bashing PM to boost book sales

-

THE time for David Cameron to criticise Boris Johnson and Michael Gove for their Leave campaign should have been 2016, not when the Prime Minister is in last-ditch talks with the EU. But publicity conscious Cameron — a one-time PR — is only concerned about achieving maximum coverage for his memoirs and clearly couldn’t give a fig about Leave voters. The fact he didn’t imagine for a moment that the electorate would vote to leave speaks volumes about how out of touch he was and, it seems, still is. He should hang his head in shame for the cynical timing of the publication of his book and the way in which he turned his back on the country when he didn’t get the referendum result he wanted. Like John Major, he would do well to step back into the shadows of obscurity, where he belongs.

tonY eDWarDs, ockham, surrey. FORMER Prime Minister David Cameron may only be trying to sell his memoirs but I am fed up with him accusing Boris Johnson and Michael Gove of duplicity. He may be right but due to a lack of trust the British public now fully expect politicians to behave in this way and it would be naive to think otherwise. The rise of Boris Johnson is down to the EU, Theresa May and David Cameron himself. David Cameron went to the EU with the begging bowl and was sent home with his tail between his legs. Theresa May did the same and was vilified by the EU and conned into accepting an agreement skewed largely in favour of the EU. The end result is a Boris Johnson premiership — and I think his memoirs will be more entertaining than Cameron’s when he comes to write them. BoB MaCDougaLL, Kippen,

stirlingshire. WHy is Cameron apologising? He gave the majority what it wanted. r. J. anDreWs, Farnborough, hants. DAvID CAMERON’S memoirs will be flying off the shelves — of the charity shops! John eVans, Wokingham, Berks.
