FLEABAG star Phoebe Waller-Bridge has signed a reported £16million-a-year deal with Amazon Studios to create and produce new television content.

The original work will be shown exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories.

The streaming service is already the US distributor of her hit BBC comedy series which scooped four prizes at the Emmy Awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

The 34-year-old said: ‘I’m insanely excited to be continuing my relationship with Amazon. Working with the team on Fleabag was the creative partnership dreams are made of. It really feels like home. I can’t wait to get going!’

Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke said: ‘We are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Phoebe.

‘She is clever, brilliant, generous and a virtuoso on multiple fronts including writing, acting and producing.

‘Fleabag has been a gift to our Prime Video customers and we are excited for what comes next from this brilliant mind to dazzle and delight our global audience.’

Miss Waller-Bridge was triumphant in the comedy section at the Emmys as she was named best actress and top writer while Fleabag was also given the outstanding series award.

In her acceptance speech for the series prize, Miss Waller-Bridge said: ‘This is just getting ridiculous. The journey has been absolutely mental to get here.

‘It’s really wonderful to know and reassuring that a dirty, pervy, angry, messedup woman can make it to the Emmys.’ Harry Bradbeer brought Fleabag’s awards total to four by winning best director for a comedy series.

It features Miss Waller-Bridge as a young woman in London who provides the audience with outrageous and intimate details of her bedroom antics. Her next project is the next James Bond film No Time To Die.

Jodie Comer, 26, won the best actress in a drama award for her role as assassin Villanelle in Killing Eve, the BBC series also written by Miss Waller-Bridge.

Variety magazine has reported her Amazon deal is worth £16 million a year.
