JAR TEST TO CHECK JOINT HEALTH
PROFESSOR Philip Conaghan, a consultant rheumatologist at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, recommends two simple tests you can do at home to see if you’re likely to get osteoarthritis.
‘If you can’t undo a jar or get out of a chair easily, even before you have joint pain, these are warning signs that your muscles are starting to run downhill and that you’re putting too much strain through your joints,’ he says.
To combat this, you need to build your muscle strength (see above).
