WHAT’S NOW & HOW TO DO IT . . . HAIR POLISHERS

-

HAIR balms are mini-miracle workers that do it all — taming frizz, nourishing and adding gloss. Top hairdresser Lee Stafford says: ‘Balms are great for finishing touches. The biggest secret to using them is, less is more — you can always add, but it’s very difficult to take away.

‘Rub the balm into your hands, then use your fingers first, finishing with your whole hands, and focusing directly on the areas where you want polish.’

Rita Hazan, the New Yorkbased celebrity colourist (clients include Beyoncé, Madonna, J-Lo and Katy Perry) has just launched Shine Balm (£25, net‑a‑porter.com) with colour-protecting oils including sunflower, jojoba, moringa and camelia, and vitamins A, C and E. Kerastase Aura Botanica Baume Miracle (£30.10, lookfantastic. com) melts from a balm to an oil on application, so is easily absorbed.

It calms frizzy ends so effectively you could even skip a trim.
