COMPELLING DRAMA

THE tide turns against Fulcher (Martin Freeman, pictured) in this penultimate episode as the detective is forced to sit on his hands while awaiting charges of misconduct. He does have supporters, though, and when they make themselves known, the series hits subtle new emotional heights and proves itself to be British drama at its understated best.
