FOUR INQUIRIES HE FACES

The Greater London Authority has asked whether Mr Johnson should face a criminal investigation for misconduct in public office. It wants the Independent Office for Police Conduct to assess allegations that Miss Arcuri’s company received £11,500 because of her friendship with him while he was mayor.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport is investigating why Miss Arcuri’s company was given £100,000 in 2018. It is thought the firm, now run from California, was eligible as it had a UK phone number.

Labour wants Britain’s top civil servant, Sir Mark Sedwill, to look into claims Miss Arcuri went on overseas trade trips. Shadow Cabinet Office spokesman Jon Trickett said there were allegations of ‘serious conflicts of interest, abuse of power and misuse of public funds’.

Current London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, has asked City Hall officials to look into other awards handed out during Mr Johnson’s time in office. A spokesman said they would check what ‘processes were followed to ensure that any lessons are learned for the future’.
