Pharmacy staff strike drags on
PHARMACY workers are entering their 11th week of strike action over a wage dispute with NHS bosses.
The NHS Tayside staff, who went on strike in August, claimed that their responsibilities have changed, with no increase in pay to reflect this.
They are seeking a pay increase and compensation for years they claim they have worked at a higher grade.
Scottish Labour Health and Sport spokesman Monica Lennon said: ‘NHS workers shouldn’t have to strike to get a fair pay deal. NHS Tayside bosses should do the right thing. Treating staff badly is bad for patients.’
Susan Robertson, Unite regional industrial officer, said: ‘The workers have taken a brave stand.’
An NHS Tayside spokesman said: ‘NHS Tayside has always sought to avoid industrial action. The board remains committed to resolving this issue.’
Unite will hold talks with NHS Tayside bosses tomorrow in a bid to resolve the dispute.
