Kurt cardigan sells for £260k

A CARDIGAN worn by rocker Kurt Cobain in a televised gig and unwashed since 1993 has become the most expensive knitware sold at auction after fetching £260,000.

The olive green Manhattan brand acrylic and mohair top, pictured on Cobain above, was described as ‘one of the most famous sweaters in music history’ before its sale at the Hard Rock Cafe, New York.

Nirvana’s ‘MTV Unplugged in New York’ was recorded at Sony Music Studios five months before Cobain killed himself on April 5, 1994, aged 27.

The album of the performanc­e was released four months after his death. A custom Fender guitar which Cobain used on tour was also sold for £265,000.
