Britannia voted worst hotel in UK... for 7th year in a row
WITh ‘damp smells’ and ‘dirty’ rooms, Britannia hotels have been rated the worst in the country for the seventh year in a row.
Some 31 per cent of customers criticised its hotels for cleanliness, compared with an average 3 per cent across all other chains, with guests branding its 61 branches ‘filthy’, ‘dreadful’ and ‘scruffy’.
The research by Which? is based on reports from more than 8,000 guests who were asked to rate everything from the comfort of the bed to food, cleanliness and value for money. They gave Britannia a one-star rating in almost every category. A Which? investigator who checked in to the Britannia Lodge at Gatwick was greeted with ‘damp smells’ from a clogged ventilation fan and a ‘grubby’ bathtub.
At the other end of the scale, Wetherspoon hotels topped the charts for the first time – coming joint first with Premier Inn.
Which? said Britannia’s chief executive Alex Langsam would not comment.
