O’HARA FEARS SLOW STARTS ARE ERASING WASPS’ STING

- SEAN VINCENT reports from the Indodrill Stadium

ALLOA striker Kevin O’Hara has urged the Wasps to ditch their slow starts to games. Peter Grant’s men savoured a stirring comeback against Queens, recovering from a two-goal deficit at half-time to score twice in the space of just 60 seconds after the break. But it wasn’t the first time the part-timers — who remain just two points ahead of bottom club Partick Thistle — have taken a while to get going this season. ‘We didn’t start the game the way we wanted,’ said O’Hara after he and Alan Trouten cancelled out Queens’ equally quickfire double from Stephen Dobbie and Jack Hamilton. ‘That’s happened a few times this season — against Arbroath and Ayr here. We had a bit of a rollicking off the gaffer at half-time, rightly so, and the team showed good spirit to come back and make it 2-2. ‘He was pretty angry but we know ourselves we’re good enough to compete with the rest of the league. ‘We just never started and he wanted us to play longer balls and get in behind them. We did that in the second half when we upped the tempo a bit. ‘We need to start the games better and get on the front foot more often. We’re quite happy we got the draw but we should be beating more teams at home.’ Alloa will have an early opportunity to appease Grant when they host Dundee tomorrow night, while Queens will aim for a quick recovery against Inverness Caley Thistle. ‘We knew it would be difficult,’ said Doonhamers boss Allan Johnston. ‘Alloa beat Dundee United only a couple of weeks ago and they make it hard for teams. We’ve got to get back on track on Tuesday.’
