Is this the best or worst series of Strictly?

Scottish Daily Mail - - Freeview Primetime Planner -

STRICTLY Come Dancing is my favourite programme, so I don’t agree with people complaining that they do not know this year’s celebrities (Letters). By the final, they will feel like old friends. As for the judges, I do miss Len Goodman and Darcey Bussell, but am happy with the current line-up. I respect the opinion of Craig Revel Horwood, whose marking is spot on. So lighten up and enjoy good all-round family entertainment.

THE ridiculous dressing up for the Halloween edition of Strictly detracted from the dancing, as has the introduction of non-appropriate music for the paso doble and tango.

M. DAVEY, Castle Bromwich, W. Mids.

HOW refreshing to have some lesser-known celebrities with no dancing experience, which had not been the case in previous years. All ages of my family from eight to 70 are loving this year’s Strictly.

CAROLE GASKING, Ashford, Kent.

WHAT a big change in the programme that has been the mainstay of Saturday night. There is a strong possibility that we will have same-sex partners in future series and have been told that this weekend there will be two male professionals dancing together. Why do the producers assume this will be acceptable to its many fans? We have already seen the male professional dancer Johannes Radebe perform in high heels. Why not have a separate programme for same-sex dancing?

I also dislike the male judges making sexual comments about some of the male dancers. If Len Goodman had dared to make such a remark about a female dancer, there would have been uproar.

STRICTLY has finally lost the plot. It should be renamed Strictly Come Gymnastics. Throwing your partner over your shoulder isn’t dancing.

MARJ VOADEN, Rhoose, S. Glam.

LET’S have some praise for Strictly: the fantastic costumes, the inventive special-effects, Dave Arch’s talented orchestra and singers, and, of course, the professional dancers and choreographers who give us the ‘wow’ factor.

Mrs C. DAVIES, Dudley, W. Mids.
