HARRY POT­TER’S CHRIST­MAS MAGIC

PUB­LISHER Blooms­bury is pin­ning its hopes on new re­leases such as an il­lus­trated Harry Pot­ter book and a healthy life­style of­fer­ing from chef Tom Ker­ridge to boost sales this Christ­mas.

Half-year prof­its fell 19pc to £1.3m in the six months to Au­gust 31 af­ter a 5pc slide in rev­enues to £71.3m.

But Blooms­bury has ten ti­tles it claims are re­cent, cur­rent or po­ten­tial best-sell­ers.

These in­clude an il­lus­trated edi­tion of Harry Pot­ter and the Goblet Of Fire by JK Rowl­ing and Jim Kay (pic­tured in­set) as well as Miche­lin-starred chef Tom Ker­ridge’s new ti­tle in De­cem­ber, called Lose Weight And Get Fit.

The boy wizard’s books show no sign of wan­ing – the pa­per­back edi­tion of Harry Pot­ter and the Philoso­pher’s Stone was the eighth best-selling children’s book of the year to date, 22 years af­ter it was pub­lished.
