70 posts at wind tur­bine firm face axe

A FIRM which make tow­ers for wind tur­bines is to cut up to three-quar­ters of its work­force, de­spite pre-tax prof­its of £7.1mil­lion last year.

CS Wind, based near Camp­bel­town, Ar­gyll, has said up to 73 of its 94 staff could go. It blamed chal­leng­ing mar­ket con­di­tions and dif­fi­cul­ties with sup­ply com­pa­nies.

En­ergy Min­is­ter Paul Wheel­house said he had ‘com­mit­ted to do all we can to sup­port the com­pany in their at­tempts to se­cure fu­ture work for the site’.
