FURY: I’LL KNOCK OUT BRAUN, THEN WILDER

Scottish Daily Mail - - Cricket - By JEFF POWELL

TYSON FURY is vowing to lay WWE giant Braun Strowman down and out tonight, thereby ending claims that professional wrestling is a sham. The Gypsy King’s decision to jeopardise his world heavyweight championship rematch with Deontay Wilder by venturing into wrestling has raised eyebrows as sharply as the cut he sustained in his last fight. Fury defends risking a reopening of that gash above his right eye by saying of the opponent he faces in Saudi Arabia: ‘This man is 385lb of Braun but I will knock him out before he can rough me up. ‘There will be no pretence. I am going into it full-on. I expect to knock him out the first time I connect with his chin. But if not I’m ready to wrestle. I’ve prepared for everything in the WWE gym. If anyone thinks this game is fake, they should try it. This is the most punishing, physical, painful training I’ve been through. I’ve not hurt my body to go out and put on a mock fight or clown around. This will be real.’ Fury (left) denied he is wrestling to duck the Wilder rematch. He said: ‘Tell Deontay I won’t get injured if I can help it. He’s next.’ Fury is understood to be earning $15million in the desert. That could treble if he and Wilder come through their interim outings intact.

Fury v Strowman is live on Sky Sports Box Office.
