‘I’m shot, I’m shot!’

AIRBNB has vowed to ban ‘party houses’ after a mass shooting at a property rented through the website left five revellers dead.

The victims were gunned down at a 4,000 sq ft Californian home hired for an event billed on social media as an ‘Airbnb mansion party’. Three died at the house in Orinda, an affluent suburb of San Francisco, on Halloween, and two in hospital.

Police found two guns at the scene, but the killer is still at large. Airbnb’s billionaire boss Brian Chesky has now vowed to crack down on unauthorized gatherings booked on the site.

Neighbours said more than 100 party-goers turned up at the four-bedroom house, despite the Airbnb listing insisting on no parties. Owner

Michael Wang was reportedly told the booking was for a family reunion for a dozen people. But he said he could see many more people there via video from his doorbell camera.

Police were on their way to the house following complaints about the noise when shots rang out just before 11pm on Thursday. Tiara Chambers, 24, was one of seven who packed inside a bathroom when the carnage began. She said another woman tried to get in and said: ‘I’m shot! I’m shot!’

The victims ranged in age from 29 to 19. Several people were injured.

Announcing a ban on ‘party houses’, Mr Chesky – who is worth £3.6billion at the age of just 38 – tweeted: ‘We are redoubling our efforts to combat unauthorized parties and get rid of abusive host and guest conduct...’ He said staff would manually screen for ‘high-risk’ reservations.
