Ovarian cancer symptoms alert

Scottish Daily Mail - - Comment -

WOMEN’S lives are at risk because only one in five know the symptoms of ovarian cancer, a charity has warned.

Research by Target Ovarian Cancer revealed that only 20 per cent of women knew that bloating was a key sign of ovarian cancer. Symptom awareness is crucial to early diagnosis which, in turn, can dramatically raise survival chances.

The research follows Public Health England’s decision to axe its successful ‘Be Clear on Cancer’ symptom awareness campaigns because of budget cuts.

Annwen Jones, of Target Ovarian Cancer, said: ‘Early diagnosis is the holy grail in ovarian cancer.’
